Well that one started out like a Nashville bridge.... in its youth. Now its the very rare "San Bastardo" bridge. :)

Looking at that bridge again -

All the strings are set deep into the slots. The bridge is fully "down".

This can only mean one thing:

That guitar has a rising neck and needs a reset - something not easily done on an SG.

Still no response for where we can go to air out your slanderous and highly inflammatory remark?

Still constant mocking over what I say or ask.

How about we forget I asked about the bridge and stop the off topic sh&%$ and giggles in order to try to annoy me by ignoring what I am inquiring about? I get it Charlie, overcooking the same note over and over ,,, stinks.

(comment does not apply to your last post, and a the few others.)

Six String, I have a question for you. I am looking for a local and "reputable" guitar repair shop.

So far I called Elderly in Lansing MI, but that is quite a haul just to get my control panel wiring overhauled. They charge $30 per pickup installation. I forget their hourly rate, but from what I gather, they have a good shop, talked to a guy named Steve Olsen. He said it might be 25-35 bucks to redo the wiring and solders, and I assume check the pots etc. I already explained that the control panel connections were poorly done. That sounds fair or no?

There's a guy that the Goshen music shop told me about, I'll have to give him a ring.

Now I have to find someone to help me test the ohms on my pickup.

IMO... If you want to spend a lot of money you can go to any place, they will do most anything you want. But you also need to check them out completely... including some of their past clients. To just get started (and depending on how much you want done) I would suggest you start at T&G Music in Goshen. Tim has not done work for me, but I do know some guys he has either done good work for them or I have heard he has an excellant tech that does work for him. There is also a guit maker in Goshen... I don't know the name or where he's at, But I have seen a couple of guitars he has done. Very high class. I'll see if I can find that guys name or number.

Don't knock it till you try it... Besides, it is the town which inspired the classic hit from the "Electric Amish" ... "She's From Goshen". (As done to the music of Aerosmith's "sweet Emotion".) :)

Six String, I called Tim R. today from TG in Goshen and he'll take care of it sometime next week. He seems like a good guy, he's been real helpful and put up with numerous phone calls and guitar questions, so I'll be happy to do some business with him. Thanks for the tip.

Tim R & I haggled over a Super Beatle bottom years ago. He is a great guy and if you see him, tell him hi for me.... if he remembers me. I think he'll do a good job for you. BTW, my partner teaches up there on Thursdays too. Great lead layer. Good luck.

Six String, I will have to get with Tim some other time,,, because,,, I found a buyer for the guitar and he wants it ASAP and plans on redoing the pickup (and moding the wiring) anyway.

I'm jazzed as this means that the Gibson SG is way closer to being a reality!

    Yes!!!

    Six String,
    digital representation
You bet, the text depicted SG only goes so far (chuckles). I'll even borrow someone's digital cam to get some nice pics.

    Soon-ness quotient
Just yesterday and the day before I visited Brasswind and Woodwind again, and the Standard keeps winning over the Special. It is consistently better in the bass department. To my ears, it's warmer and fuller sounding with either pickup! And I redid the ear to the back of the guitar test, and the Standard won that also, but this time it was not at all too bassy or lacking top end. So because Standards are more expensive than Specials, that sets things out slighter farther, while the new incoming income makes things somewhat sooner.

So I think it's a not quite so soon,,, sooner.

    Thanks for the encouragement! 8)

    One guitar man
This guitar will have to be a good one, I can't afford a collection. So I doubt I will buy online via the internet, I think I should try it out before buying. But I'm not sure, maybe I'd be missing out on a good deal if I overlook ebay and such, especially on a newer model...

The Standard may be what you like best, but it's always the best thing to try the guit out first. As far as the collection, IMO very few start out to collect... it just happens when two or three just happen. I never started to "collect" guitars for a collection... next thing I know there's 7 or 8 taking space where I had space.....

Like all auctions, you sometimes miss a good deal but don't forget you can also end up with something less then hat you hoped for. I would always suggest "being able to play before buying" to get a better idea of what you want.

Thanks for the reminder. If I buy new, I doubt I will, but if I do, I'll remember to order thru here. And thanks for the graphical SG idea. I hope you don't mind me doing my own rendition?
