I am not into Jazz at all. But that was awesome! Couldn't stop watching til the end...
Oh yeah. I did open-mics playing fingerstyle jazz with my SGs.
Anybody who says such and such a guitar can't do
such and such a style of music is just blowing smoke.
Maybe they say things like that... and what it actually means
is that THEY can't play Jazz on an SG. But somebody that
knows how certainly can.
It ain't the guitar that performs music... it's the performer.
These guys know their stuff... that's real music. Love it, thanks
I liked the whole band... the drummer was right there.
And the bassist certainly has the chops. But I still think that
a six string bass looks like a battleship.
Um, maybe you can't do jazz, but great music can be played on any quality instrument.
This aint' Jazz but it proves Col Mustard's point!
thats was awesome !!!!!
I took jazz guitar lessons 40 years ago to improve my rock and roll and overall guitar playing. It was my guitar teacher and Pat Metheny fan who advised me to replace my entry level Epiphone with a Gibson SG and actually ordered the SG for me (it was left handed so he must have had to order it directly from Gibson). I learned to play George Benson, Kenny Burrell, some other jazz stuff on my SG, it can definitely be used for jazz
If you like that, maybe you should get to know the original band, Uzeb. Local Québec band of a few years back. After they folded, the guitarist went on to put up another band called Wild Unit, that I like better.
Here's the original of the tune the kids covered.
Here's Wild Unit first album.
They only made another album, called Wild Unit 2.
Just noticed this guy does not use a pick but plays with his fingers. I am always impressed when a guitarist can play such fast and clean solos with his fingers as opposed to a pick. He joins another famous SG player, Robbie Krieger of the Doors, who did not use a guitar pick, although at the risk of alienating Doors fans, this guitarist actually sounds like an even better player than Krieger.
The SG That Could
I think the point is not a brand or model. I think the actual point is, can YOU ( or I, he/she, they) play?
I can't play like this on my SG. But it can be done...
Separate names with a comma.
