I woke up this morning and realized my new SG reissue (year 2020) seemed to look burnt in the finish. It’s just in one area but it looks really dark and i am not able to rub it or clean it off. i have been taking very good care of this guitar and can assure you i did not place it anywhere near a flame haha. Any ideas how this happened? it seemed to have just appeared overnight practically.

Seem perfectly normal on those tiny images. If they were bigger and with different angles, maybe be we could figure out what happened. Can you take photos outside with natural light ?

DrBGood is right, pics are too small to really weigh in. However I wonder how you store the guitar. Sometime things like vinyl can do bad things to nitro finishes.

Did you play the SG with a red printed t-shirt?

You know the joke where a guy ask his doctor: Why does it hurt wherever I push with my finger, be it on my arm, mi thigh, my neck, my face, etc ? Doctor looks him up and finally tells him his finger is broken.

For what it's worth, even though the OP seems to have abandoned his thread, this is the sort of thing that you can get on a cherry red SG that makes a dark spot quote possibly just natural grain. Not every red SG will have grain that darkens up so strongly in spots but many do.
