It arrived. It came packed in a cardboard box with soft case. It needed a tweak for set up and intonation. Sounds good plays great. It looks great to me. It seems nicely put together with decent grain. Fret ends are a touch sharp but not real bad.

Looks like we both went down for that Stupid Deal... I regret nothing!! :h5:

That red -- like my natural -- looks even better than it did online. Congrats on a cool SG!

We'll have to call that one the smart deal of the day...
you all got one hell of a guitar for small money.

I sure like my earlier version of this beast, but the new ones
have 24 frets. Which is very cool, even for those of us who
don't play that far up on the dusty end.

    A fine score, brothers...

And that's a fine gig bag too. The gig bag that came with mine
was Gibson's standard black one that they shipped with SG specials in 2013.
So of course, it just barely fit. Mine was the first Gibson SG special with
the '70s style oversize headstock... so the gig bag designed for "normal"
SGs is a very tight squeeze. Read that very tight.

I fell so hard for my SG that I just had to buy her an SKB-61 hard case
when I saw them go onsale at M/F for $89. And that fits perfectly and
protects the guitar much better, so I'm happy.

Cool Special. I love the block inlays. I also like the leatherette gig bag. They included the poker chip in the case candy?
I have a 24 fret SGJ. I've used every one of them, Col. (but not very often):naughty:

Wow, that contrasting pickguard really looks fantastic on your guitar. I have a new SG coming with the natural satin finish and from the pics it looks a tad darker than I'd like but I'm hoping that's just bad lighting. If it is that dark though, I may follow your lead and swap the stock black pickguard for a contrasting color one for a totally different and very cool look similar to yours (which I love the look of).

That is a nice tone of cherry, with some orange hues. Love it.

I can't beleive they send a Gibson in a soft shell case. Daring, to say the least !

What I can't believe and find unacceptable is they use that same soft case for their 2019 SG Standards!

The Gibson SG Standard, the flagship of the SG line, should come with a hard shell case just as the Les Paul Standards do.

I have it set up and intonated. Poker chip that came with it installed. It is a bit staticy but a dryer sheet seems to work. I was playing with it, to my wife's dismay, until 3am. It is a different sound than traditional buckers. I have not really played these before. A little dialing and it sounds great. A bit p90 with a bucker/tele mix. My wife said it sounds great and she never notices. She noticed and was <@#$%> unhappy. I will try to use it to record my next piece. I have a request for more traditional blues thing. Slow.

Very nice looking guitar - congrat's! How do you like the mini humbuckers? I've heard mixed reviews so curious to hear your thoughts.

If I am playing alone they seem brighter than I am used to for an SG. In the mix they are a great fit clean to semi-dirt. I have not went to crunch or gain yet. They have the P90/Tele meets humbucker vibe.
