    Been looking into €pi SG's.
Specifically the "Special" and the "Special 1".
From what I can see the only difference is that the "S" has a "T.O.M." bridge, and the "S1" has a "Wrap Around".
Is one better than the other?

    OK. But which one?

I prefer the look of the two piece TOM, but have never owned a wrap-around style, so can't personally comment on the potential performance differences.

If you are a beginner, either of the Specials will do. If you are buying a Special because of the price and can afford a tad bit more, i suggest a G310 instead. The next step up would be the G400. Specials feel very toyish to me. Good luck.

They feel toyish, because of their shorter total length. So is the G-310. All because of the bolt-on neck, that sits deeper in the body. But they are great guitars.

I like the wraparound bridge better, mostly for the way it feels under your palm. The whole guitar seem more simple and to the point. Less bling. But it's not for everybody. Some think the intonation is never spot on with a wraparound, often because they didn't take the time to do it right.

I have the Special with the wrap around in Pelham Blue. Its a great guitar. I just put some vintage style Grovers on it and its ready to roll!

I really enjoy mine. The switch was junk as well as the tuners. I installed Hipshot locking tuners and now its great. 20171119_135450 (600x800).jpg

My favourite local SG source just removed their entire Epiphone section which was a bit of a shock, as I was hoping to grab a Special at some stage. It wasn't until I was checking out Thomann.de that I realized, CITES has hit :( It's lucky that I got my G400 Pro at all this year, but there might be quite a wait until a CITES-friendly Epiphone stable comes down under.
