Nothing like the sound of a P-90 in full cry. Santana's 2nd album comes to mind. The one with the lion on it.

Despite the Rickenbacker handle, I've got a collection of SGs.

In my plum purple SG Special, I swapped out the stock 490R/T set for a set of P94R/Ts. The P94s have more midrange bite than what you get with humbuckers. They will not duplicate that raw "Live at Leeds" type tone, but they will come close. It is safe to say that the P94s will give you tonal characteristics that lie between what a set of P90s will give you and what the stock 490R/T set delivers.

I also stuck a pair of P94s in an Epiphone Sheraton II. There, they remind me a lot of the tone I get out of the high output single coils you find in Rickenbackers - except that the P94s have more bass.

    Good luck.

Good description of what P94 really are.
    Enjoy.

Can we see that plum purple SG with its new transplants ?
