Well, I have a gig tonight - first in forever, it seems. Nothing huge, just a celebration of VE day, so lots of songs from the 1940s. It's outdoors, and somehow we will keep our distance. I'm sure everyone will have fun - they will certainly be trying to.

Loads of Glen Miller, Andrews Sisters, Vera Lyn. We were lucky to have a couple of seriously good girl singers who did an amazing job of Boogie-woogie Bugle Boy. Luckily all those tunes are musically pretty simple, you just have to be really tight with the rhythm. There were a few people holding their phones up, so I'll see if anything appears on Youtube.

Glen Miller huh. That takes me back. I remember when I wanted to go back to musical roots that came before all the music I knew, I remember acquiring a nice collection of Count Basie to take me back.

Hmm. We didn't look quite that smart. Jeans and tee shirts were all we could manage. I suppose we disobeyed the cardinal rule - the band must always look better than the audience.

LMAO DonP, I don't think I ever was at a gig where anyone could tell the difference between band member appearance and the audience.

In case my screen name doesn't give it away, I was at this show and as hot as it was that day, pretty sure Myself and the Chilipeppers were dressed pretty similarly minus mohawks and shaved head.

Well, obviously we weren't quite as shy and retiring as the Chillis, but the crowd looked the same.
Sorry, it's been a bit hot today - I think it got to me for a moment there.

Is it really HOT there, Don. Quite the opposite here. Fiancee is trying her hand at her first raised garden from seeds and of course I checked the daily weather forecast a couple weeks ago as the plants have been shooting up under her grow lights and she was anxious to get them outside to " take off"

As I saw it, the reports gave us clear sailing for no temps in the 30's near freezing. However, Mother nature changed up on us and put us in the low 30's last night and 40's and windy as heck today. More 30's forecasted ahead too.

Does anybody here remember Vera Lyn? Remember how she sang we'll meet again,
some sunny day. Vera, Vera, what has become of you?

    Couldn't help myself.

We did that very song - weren't allowed to leave that one out.
