Well one of my teams is playing for a championship again. It's been a really nice century to be a Boston sports fan.

Any ice hockey fans here? Anyone going for St Louis or Boston?

I used to be a big fan (and amateur player). One of my proudest keepsakes is a towel given to me by Bobby Hull. Sadly gambling and its attendant corruption has ruined most professional and many amateur sports for me, including hockey. Now when I see ESPN38 is showing a youth hockey league game, I wonder who is taking the money from mobsters.

Always going to happen in sport everywhere. Any time there is a winner and a loser there is betting. Anywhere there is betting, someone is going to try to fix the match against the odds.

A couple of years ago the Pakistani captain was kicked out for match fixing. The Pakistan mafia was very much in charge of that one. As for the English team - who can tell? They are currently winning everything, so presumably no problem. Alarm bells ring when a good side loses.

Here's how it ended last time we played St Louis for the Cup, one of the most iconic sports photos ever.
