STRAT - THE QUEST CONTINUES...
On the way back from PA, I went a bit out of the way to go to B&B Music
in Lewes, Delaware to check out their Strats. They has SOME of the Strats
I was interested in playing but not all (like the '70's RI STRAT).
I was not impressed the STRAT DELUXE at all.
The 2 extra settings were nothing special.
The neck on the Jimmie Vaughn Strat was a baseball bat and the guitar
was (maybe) average.
The S-1 switching on the new Strats was VERY impressive.
The extra settings were beefy but still had that STRAT sound.
The neck was great. No wonder they are so expensive!
The Lite Ash Tele was GREAT. They did not have a Lite Ash Strat.
The Duncan pups were very clean but got hot real quick!
Still, the sound was quite Tele. And there was NOTHING LITE about this guitar!
The quality was very good.
The Tele Deluxe was a true beauty! With the contour shape, it was SWEET.
The S-1 wiring from what I was told is only 1 setting - both pups in parallel.
But you can get a 4-way switch and get the same sound.
The baby blue Tele Thinline was a nice looker. But the pups seemed thin.
Maybe, if I get some free time (right!), I'll head to Virginia Beach. There are
3 large music shoppes there (GC, Alpha, AL&M).
Welcome back Vic! So, the search continues..... 8)
