For those of you who have changed your pickup rings to taller black ones, where did you buy them from? Are you happy with them? And if you have can I see some pictures?

Pickup rings made for Les Pauls' have curvature on the bottom.
While rings for SGs' are flat.
Hopefully the folks at Creamtone will send the right ones.
    Did they say?
    Did you specify SG rings?
The link you posted are for LPs'.
It would be a bear to try and modify them either way.

Gibson Les Paul rings are flat. Use an hair dryer when mounting.

Papagayo nailed it below. Vintage rings come with a flat bottom like the ones at creamtone.

The rings arrived today but I am also going to be away for little bit so the installation will have to wait. Just from lining them up and eyeballing them beside the current rings, they're exactly what I imagined. Taller like 50s and early 60s Gibson's with the pickup just barely peaking over the ring, the look I'm after. I'll have pictures once they're installed.

Also, yes they are flat bottom.

    Depends which Les Paul.
Not all Les Pauls have a carved top.

Pickup rings are not specific to SG only.
The same rings are used on other guitars with flat top such as the Les Paul Special with Humbuckers pictured above as well as the Explorer, Flying V, Moderne, 2004 Firebird Studio, etc.

You can avoid all this extra work by just buying the proper parts in the first place.

Please, wear a particle/dust mask when cutting/drilling/scraping/filing/sanding plastic.

You do realize that its not good to breathe plastic dust, right?

Do you think the folks at Gibson are going through this hassle?

    Or using hair dryers?

You're both right... or wrong, depending on how you want to look at it.

From the WD Music website (emphasis mine):

    "High Arched:
This is a tall plastic humbucker ring with an arched radius, designed for usage in the bridge position arched or carved top guitars. This mounting ring is not an exact Gibson® spec replacement ring. It has slightly larger exterior dimensions with an overall arched design and slightly different mounting hole locations."

    https://www.wdmusic.com/wd-music-products-plastic-humbucker-pickup-mounting-ring-details.html

    So...Gibson spec rings are flat.

But, there are aftermarket varieties that are arched.

I agree, why all the trouble to modify rings when they are available in various sizes and profiles. Just thought I would post the video I ran across.

Not sure I understand the original question about changing to taller rings. The bridge pickup usually has a taller ring than the neck pickup because of the neck to body angle.

From my experience I have never changed them to a different size, only added them when missing and using the appropriate size for bridge or neck position.

As far as Les Pauls go, when most folks mention “Les Paul”, the context they are usually referring to is a Les Paul Standard with carved top. They either forget or are unaware of the Juniors and Specials with flat tops (single cut and DC) with P-90’s which are my favorite.
