Guitar Center already shows pics and specs of the new 2017 SG Standard T http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson/2017-SG-Standard-T-Electric-Guitar.gc A few interesting things: * Back to the small pickguard, thin neck, 61 style for the Standard * But, at the same time, it has the bigger, longer neck joint typical of the batwings! This is a first for Gibson, right? All modern small pickguard SGs I can think of have the 22nd fret joint. Interesting... * It has the bevels, horn points and control layout of the batwing SGs, only with a small pickguard instead. Not as sexy as the more countoured shape of the 61RI or 2013-2015 Standards. * Nibs and a pure white thick binding. Not sure what to make of this * Grover locker tunings - great machineheads, but can make an SG harder to balance on the strap * Does the specs mention aluminum bridge and tailpiece? That'd be certainly new * They seem to have discarded poker chips for some reason * I think I've read somewhere that the finishes will be Cherry, Ebony and Cherry Sunburst, which should look interesting What do you think? I like some of the features, but I don't like the looks too much, especially the horns and bevels.
