Tommy Bolin. A legend gone way too soon. He was was even approved as a replacement for Blackmore in Purple by the moody man himself.

One of Dylan's best recent albums.

Amazing spiritual jazz, a bit like a more listenable version of Sun Ra. Not quite as fantastic as their previous record, but still amazing.

Incredible powerful, dense, polyrhythmic and political jazz album. Best record I've heard this year.

This is a late night winner, think smokey dark neighborhood bar. Yes, you know the place. The band doesn’t start playing until 11 PM. The song is Yesterday – Yes, the Beatles tune and there is no acoustic guitar in this version but a guy playing a Tele.

Lately, a prog band from the 70's called Nektar. This was one of those lps that made me love guitar and synth.

anyone here heard of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard?...

absolutely phenomenal & diverse band...they take you to the highest peaks of psychedelic down to the gritty bare bones of rock. They released 5 albums last year, and each one is so different and impressive....

    definitely in my top 3

Sorry, I do not understand Japanese. Anyone have an idea what they are saying.

This came up on my YouTube recommendations and as I am a Candlemass fan, this is in my ballpark:

An old friend who never got the chance to get old, I loved Richard and Mimi's music and cover many of their tunes.

With the recent passing of keyboardist Lyle Mays of the Pat Metheny Group, someone I was lucky to see many times over 25+ years, have been listening a lot to their whole catalogue. I still don't know how to post vids here, but searching youtube for:

'Pat Metheny Group Have You Heard', the version posted Jun 12, 2011

and/or 'Pat Metheny Group - Are You Going With Me? - 1989', posted Aug 11, 2009

gives a nice sampling of this legendary band.

    RIP Lyle
