Grain filled and shot with 4 coats of Cherry dyed Sanding Sealer.
I'll sand it and shoot the Cherry tinted Clear on this weekend.
Hopefully if all goes well I should have it done by the end of this month !

    Looking good Lou.

If Mr Iommi would like a faded, you could leave the finish as is. ;)

I really like the way the way the color fades on the back of the neck as you come up from the headstock to the body.
That is a really nice touch and adds a lot to the look of the instrument.

    That fade is not intentional.
Tony doesn't like any finish on the back of the neck because of his hands sweating.
So after I grain filled the bare wood I sprayed only one light coat of sealer on the back of the neck. That's why it has that faded look. ;)

    UpDate:

6 coats of Cherry tinted Lacquer have been laid down on the SG.
If the weather co-operates I'll be spraying another 6 coats of clear lacquer to lock the color
in and the drying out process begins !

    I'll post pics ASAP !

As of yesterday ( Tuesday ) the last 6 coats of clear have been sprayed.
The body and back of the headstock are done. I'm still spraying the face of the headstock with a spray can of clear until I build it up enough so I can bury the decals !

    Won't be long now !

This thread is not only extremely cool but also acts as a mini course in guitar construction.Reading it and carefully looking at the photos has given me a much greater understanding of what goes into a guitar than I had before.
Thank you Lou. I have learned a lot from you.

Well here it polished out after being "force cured" after 2 weeks.
Force cured equates to hanging in a very warm room here at work !

I think I'm going to let it continue curing for another 2 weeks and wet sand it again with 2000 grit paper then buff it out again !
