First time I see this SG Custom, what do you think, modded or Custom Shop ?
The pix aren't really very detailed but it looks almost like an SG equivalent of this Les Paul "Super Custom"
Those inlays are not something someone added, nor are they normal. I'd guess it's a custom shop limited edition of some sort.
Exactly. Perhaps a build to order Custom Shop. Last time I saw those inlays on an SG was on the Supra model:
But I guess the custom shop will use whatever type you request - or perhaps it's just from within Gibsons traditional designs? Like the split diamonds they used on Hendrix's Custom Flying V:
I think those are my favourite inlays. Apart from dots, which I prefer to anything else!
Suspicious. I'd want a pretty convincing provenance. It looks like a Supra neck with the wrong headstock overlay. The Supra is one of the most popular models to fake.
This Les Paul is a Norlin, not the SG.
I couldn't tell if it was modern or vintage from the pics you shared but I had just watched that Les Paul video yesterday and noted the similar look, especially the fretboard inlays so I pointed it out.
There was a guy either on here or MLP that had two custom ordered SGs, one of which looked just like that, minus the pickguard. It's probably the same one with an after market pickguard.
It might be a Custom Shop Made 2 Measure.
EBay kit SGs come with similar inlays... But that would be quite a stetch form a Gibso.
Found it: it appears to be the custom order owned by user splitdiamond and posted on the unique SG thread:
He probably changed the pickguard.
His ebony SG Custom shop white pickguard is killer too !
Both real beauties.
There’s not very many guitars I see that I save a photo of on my phone. But I did save this photo of his black one last year. The white/black combo with lyre, custom headstock, and nickel was just too good not to save.
I am not a fan of playing with lyres, but they look amazing. This is pretty close to what my custom shop made to order would look like, minus the lyre. If I had the dough I would get this one as well though!
In many ways the sunburst is more original and unique, but les desirable to me personally
Wow that's amazing! I would love to own that, but I would have to put my polished steel pickguard on.
