I am on my 3rd SG, a 2005 Classic. I should have kept the 1st one, which was also a 2005 Classic, but there was a knot in the wood on the front that stupidly bugged me. But that guitar had *tone*. I then went to a small pickguard reissue, didn't like it, and then picked up another Classic. But this Classic doesn't "speak" to me like the first one did. Anyway.

I played a buddy's Std a while back, and it was a rockin' guitar, good feel and tone. It was heavy too, maybe 8 or more lbs. I haven't weighed my Classic (but after seeing this thread, now I need to), but I'm guessing mine is 7 - 7.5 lbs. My '79 Les Paul is about 9.5 lbs. I actually offered to buy his on the spot, but he said no. For a while, I was on a mission to get an 8+ lb SG, but then other things got in the way. When I was looking, I had an eBay search setup for "pounds" or "lbs", and then I went to Sweetwater's site, because they put their weights up, but at that time it seemed almost impossible to find one more than 8 lbs. But seems like here, there are a few. :)

If I ever decide to scratch that itch again, I will have pester y'all.

Ordered my 2014 Standard from AMS, the had 4 choices, from 6.8 to 7.9 llbs. I went 6.8. Didn't want to hurt my trusty back.

So I borrowed a buddy's scale, and this is what I got for all mine:

1979 Les Paul KM: 10.00 lbs
Early 80's BC Rich Eagle: 9.26

    2005 PRS CE 24: 8.30
    2005 Classic SG: 7.03
    2005 Eric Johnson Strat: 7.69
    Warmoth Shredcaster: 7.09 (chambered)

My SG is on the light side of ideally what I want. And I was surprised the BC Rich was so heavy.

...and just to make everyone glad they have SGs, I re-weighed my Les Paul using the correct KG (it has some other wacky measurement I've been using by mistake): 9 friggin' pounds even. That's why I call him Big Tuna.

My 2013 SGJ weighs in at a paltry 2.81 Kg.

    That's 6.2 lbs for our Yankee brothers...:D

After recently Pm'ing Mdubya about his 3 knob SG and mine, he said his was on the heavy side and asked if mine was too. I told him it I believed it to be rather light at around 7.25 lbs and that I remember I posted weights in a thread once. Well, here is that thread and I see it is lighter than I remembered. 6 lbs 11 oz
