My first SG was my third (electric) guitar. Had a Washburn MG-24 superstrat when I was young, then 15 years later I started playing again and first bought a desert sunburst Les Paul, then I bought a SG just by chance because the Les Paul was in for service. I still have that SG, and it is my best SG. Have had 5 more after that, but only a total of three remain.

I've lost count but SGs came late in the game and I regret that. Somewhere around 20 guitars before an SG. Though I nearly bought an SG in 1984 but got a Rickenbacker instead.

I started out not buying, selling or owning many guitars; usually 1 at a time. After about 30 years, probably my 7th or 8th guitar was an Epi G310 which felt very comfortable to play, and I then started to like SGs, joined this site. Since then, I've bought and sold 10 or so guitars and half have been Gibson SGs. I very rarely have more than 2 guitars, at the moment I have one (non-SG) and waiting for delivery of another (SG).

Not 45 SGs, but guitars total over the years (mid ‘80s and on), and my last three guitar purchases were SGs, two of which I kept.

My SG was my second electric guitar, but it was the first guitar I actually purchased, replacing an old Epiphone model (not an SG) that had been handed down from my brother to me. I purchased my Gibson SG in 1979 and am still playing it 40 years later! IMG_20190502_205010_hdr.jpg

in terms of electrics...my SG was the 2nd...
1st was the entry lvl Epiphone LP-100 back in the mid90s...
    over the yrs...superstrats and up to 9 different SGs were around...now i've downsized and left with 3 SGs...'75 standard / '89 SG-90 double / '00 61 RI w/ maestro.
dont really regret parting with the rest except for maybe the SG Classic and junior...guess i should look for another P-90 model to cure that itch again...

My first was a cheap Yamaha, I believe, acoustic. Second was a white G-310, back when they had the black plastic covered pickups. Third, my 94 SG Standard. Several more have salt and peppered their way into my collection over the years. :-)

Second guitar I ever bought, in '78. A nice '68 Junior.

It wasn't this nice when I bought it, but it was still a nice guitar.
