That probably made them better guitars.

Gibson is doin' this regularly. Very wrong IMO. They can sell these guitars with minor setups as "Factory B-Stock" etc, and they can convert them to cash. So people can stop to buy Chibsons. This is a huge waste of source!!

    Or donate them! Why not?

Gibson could have donated those to high school
music departments AND gotten a tax break for
those donations but they did that video instead?

...or maybe that video was meant as an apology
to the world by Gibson for making those guitars
    in the first place?

Either way it's a show of stupidity.

Bad PR perhaps, but I would have done the same thing. Those things are hideous lol.

Funny how we all hate the Firebird X (including myself)
I would bet that not one of us has ever played one.
It may be a great guitar. How would we know?

The same way I look at weird plates of food, odd looking cars or strange wimmenz leering at me at last call at the bars- sometimes ya just know lol.

Granted, I might be missing out on something cool, but I'm good with that.

    Same here.
I'm not gonna swallow thumbtacs to see if I like it.
I somehow know that I won't without trying it.

This is crazy how Gibson destroy complete guitars with tuners, hardware, pickups ...

May be those expensive components come on Earth with the rain .....

Gibson's new relic shop in practice!

Seriously, the Firebird X was probably the WORST thing Gibby ever did. Yes, I played one, 3 actually, when they came out. I thought it was a shame they wasted wood on these abominations. The much vaunted Bluetooth foot controller didn't work worth a squat, it was so complicated to get a decent tone that it required a PhD. they played …. okish, but the tone wasn't there, the controls, including the robotuners didn't work they way they should, and it felt like a lifeless hunk of....., something you would flush down a toilet.

I agree with everyone who said they should have donated them to a school. Yank out the crap, throw in a set of $1.00 pots, and give them to under privileged schools, and take the tax write off of 3K a guitar..
