I was really tempted by the Katana because on paper and probably in real life its a better amp but I don't need a big footprint and 1000 amp models as much as I need something that can do all the things I need done including playing music from my laptop/phone through the stereo speakers in my office, is super small and portable and sounds really good through headphones and at really low volume. The THR hit all these points and is something that I can bring back home after China whereas I'd have to buy a China voltage model of Katana which would need to be sold off at a loss in China before moving if I can even find one. The THR can easily fly in my carry on luggage which is a definite consideration for me. The THR is older but still has a loyal following and a proven track record. With my luck Yamaha will release a better product this year but....I need something starting in August. I haven't been able to play at all for most of July and I'm losing it.

It's a tiny and cute lil F'r... Amazing, the sounds that come out of it. It also can be powered by 8x AA batteries. According to the manuals specs, the batteries should last about 6 to 7 hours.

Played the Katana 50 this days, loved it. Still gonna get the thr10C when my next pay check comes in. simpler, smaller, lighter and the wife thinks it looks cool, those are the reasons.
