This has nothing to do with money, but a lot to do with class.

As I noted elsewhere, the powers that be do what they do. I made respectful, if jocular observations, pointing out that for the cost of his VOS and replacing all the hardware and electronics he had mentioned, I could buy two vintage SGs and have a nice evening in LA.
Another senior member responded saying that he didn't think that the OP was serious. The OP replied by calling us "idiots." A third senior member took exception to his abusive tone and language. The removal shotgun was fired, taking us all out in the blast and leaving some of you wondering what it was about. What it was about was someone dishing out meanness and not being able to take the resultant, for the most part good-natured replies. I wish I could reproduce the posts to back my claims, but any who viewed them should concur. Hope that clears up any confusion.

    In other words....

The dude is a ******. He can stick his SG up his ****. That forum is perfect for him. If I cared enough I'd go on MLP/LPF and post pics of my multiple $2-3k guitars, maybe with one of my suits on, then ask them about working class and this forum. Individuals on here just don't...**** like they do on those sites. If MLP/LPF were porn sites, they would be dedicated to males measuring their ****** with one another.

And my comments on that thread were CENSORED and they weren't even mean/rude (like they are here)...just that it was hilarious he bought a 3k guitar only to ruin it.

And your comments will be censored again. I get complaints from members so I have to act....Sorry

In ancient times when voxmen, weasels and skidsharks roamed this forum, there was a kid who would post pictures of what happened after he took a saw to perfectly good instruments. His thing was transferring Strat headstocks to SGs, or maybe it was vice-versa (can't remember because it made no sense). The finished items were rough hewn, done with a handsaw and wood glue. Persuasion, dissuasion, advice and encouragement did not help, and new pictures of butchered guitars kept appearing. The cruelty hurt.

He eventually disappeared, and the nightmares went away. I wonder if he grew up and moved to another forum?

Being called a working class forum is high praise indeed.

Perhaps it should be incorporated into the forum name.

Haha, I am so making this sculpture :thumb:

Hmm, being working class would be an improvement. I'm currently in unemployed class. That's why I play sub-250€ guitars :)

The custom shop SG's tend to be a bit dusty where the neck joins the body. (Not sure if that is vintage correct. :)) Les Paul's and Made In USA guitars hide those construction details.

It's not highly visible but I'd probably ask for a replacement.

Ok, fine. I'll bite. The answers here made me want to speak my mind.

That forum, much more than MLP, seems to be infested with guys who have little or no interest in cheaper or uncollectible guitars.

There are, of course, good members, and even many of the corksniffers over there are decent guitarists, but most don't seem to be. I think many just want to buy a guitar that makes them hear applause.

I've seen more posts about how expensive or rare their guitars are than actual usefulk info. Lots of cork, for a few drops of wine.

Now, about ETSG. Working class forum?? All right. Is that an insult? If it is, I think it goes backwards. This is a forum of people who like guitars, I mean real guitar aficionados, not just cork sniffing stupid buyers who spend tons of cash in order to get a guitar rated "ok" by the olympian Gods. We buy and play what we like and enjoy ourselves. What's the problem?

I think many dudes should be reminded that Gibbie Lesters and SGs weren't considered such a mystic gold pot over the rainbow back in the days when most famous recordings were made. They were wanted because they actually played and sounded good, and today we have MANY guitars, within a wide price range, that play and sound good. :D:

This board is the most welcoming and supportive I've seen so far. I feel like I'm home here.

It is sentences like "Is there a SG forum?? lol" or "working class forum" that make me feel like that even more.

I once described Epiphones as "workhorses, guitars for players, not only for collectors."

Anyway, I hope this thread ends soon, it is a pointless waste of typing.

Corksniffers will sniff cork, with or without us responding, so... :naughty:

Nope. Not yet. The fat lady has to sing.

[IMG] La la la la la la laaaa.

I'm gonna come clean and confess my complicity with being the one taking issue with TommyBangBus calling folks here idiots by his 3rd post on our forum. (surprise!) I also pointed out that as far as idiots go that he was the one that purchased a $3000 guitar, took a loan on 2/3rds of it and is planning on voiding his warrantee with modifying every metal part on it & messing with the finish. I also pointed out that there were smarter ways to accomplish his goal without using a $3000 Historic as the guinea pig, just like Biddlin did. The simple fact is to do this to a brand new $3000 guitar under warranty really isn't smart. Period. He wants you to think he is a rich slob but the fact is he couldn't have bought it without the payment plan. Fa fa fa Phoney! That's a couple holes in his game right there, here's some more.

I had previously asked him why he bought an Historic SG if he didn't like it the way it was. That is an honest question being there are so many ways to get an early 60's looking SG right now that cost way way less than 3G's and his reply was "I like Historics" & 'idiots'. Nothing else. No logical reasoning explained. So 'He likes Historics' but doesn't like them enough to use them as designed and is compelled to change the Pickups, Bridge, StopBar, Pots & Electronics and mess with the finish. WTF? And he actually called us idiots? See the duplicity in all this? My least favorite type of person right there. Phoney, fake, pretentious, disingenuous and condescending. Ew. Anybody got hand sanitizer?

The truth is people were real gentle with him when he could have easily been kicked into the schoolyard dirt like the pompous dummy he seems to be just by using his own stupid words & reasoning against him. Now that sounds harsh, but it wasn't then and people were certainly nice enough. We were pretty gentle & I wish things were still viewable to attest to that. He just couldn't handle having some very reasonable questions directed at him or being held accountable for calling other members names by his 3rd post here. Now he can fabricate a scenario elsewhere on another forum and defame the good folks here at ETSG so he can feel good about his silly foolishness .

If ya can't take the heat, use words to explain yourself & be accountable for your actions, ya gotsta go. I doubt our forum could have contained his pompous self righteous arrogance beyond a couple more posts anyway. His 'game' had way too many glaring flaws that immediately showed. Nobody ever roots for the arrogant rich guy that goes around insulting everyday folks that others love and care about. So now he's back where he belongs on an uppity cork sniffin snob site. Good riddance. It's just too bad he can't be honest about what really happened.

    The fat lady rests.

I find it amusing that so many of the members at that "Les Paul Forum" sound like whining little bitches... :naughty:
"Smolder" seems to be the only respondent to TTs post that appeared to have any common sense...
