What amuses me isn't Disney-pop, but rather that kids in high school nowadays are listening to what was popular when I was their age. I have friends who are like 16, 17 years old, and I can toss out the most obscure mid-90's al-rock songs AND THEY'LL KNOW THEM. It's like...no! My generation! Go get your own! I blame VH1, personally...since we live in an accelerated culture, it's to the marketers' advantage to keep shoving the things what made the monies down the next gen's collective throats. And so we get "I Love the" shows, feeding the kids prepackaged versions of my generation's pop culture in bite-sized morsels. Feed the ADD generation! Milk it for all its retro appeal! God, they're wearing FLANNEL in high school again! Isn't it sad that I'm only 26 and I'm already bitching about "kids these days"? I think Courtney Love once said something about "embrace cheesy pop or you're going to end up old and bitter and bitching about when music was cool, just like your dad."
