I'm not even supposed to be here today!
What amuses me isn't Disney-pop, but rather that kids in high school nowadays are listening to what was popular when I was their age. I have friends who are like 16, 17 years old, and I can toss out the most obscure mid-90's al-rock songs AND THEY'LL KNOW THEM. It's like...no! My generation! Go get your own!

I blame VH1, personally...since we live in an accelerated culture, it's to the marketers' advantage to keep shoving the things what made the monies down the next gen's collective throats. And so we get "I Love the" shows, feeding the kids prepackaged versions of my generation's pop culture in bite-sized morsels. Feed the ADD generation! Milk it for all its retro appeal! God, they're wearing FLANNEL in high school again!

Isn't it sad that I'm only 26 and I'm already bitching about "kids these days"? I think Courtney Love once said something about "embrace cheesy pop or you're going to end up old and bitter and bitching about when music was cool, just like your dad."

(hey, im not even your age and I am bitching too.) I have to agree though..why are they marketing the old stuff, or as my parents have to complain, the old dorky stuff? like gigantic pants???

I cant tell you how hard it is to find a size 28 in mens..its hard to find anything below a 40, at least here in the West Coast (unless you are in the middle of a big city, stupid suburban malls. I live in the middle of Tacoma, WA, although a city in its own right, its more of a thoroughfare from Gig Harbor and Olympia to Seattle. ) And one music store (GC) and yet 3 major hospitals and art museums..its like Tacoma is trying to revive the crackhouse town Downtown was by trying to expose unappreciative idiots to culture..

The younger generation....snort....no class. My 14-year-old nephew just recently scraped together $900 for a Gibson with humbuckers. But did he do the right thing and get an SG?

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! He had to have a Les Paul Studio. :o

Oh well, he'll inherit my SG (or hopefully, SGs) when I pass on....

.... It never seizes to amaze me that in our shows (doing everything from Chuck Berry to 3 Doors Down....) the younger generation (12-16) are very attuned to much of the music we play. And it's more then just ..... "Oh, I've heard that one before......." or "Mom & Dad play that one....". They seem to have a genuine knowledge of the history................. Amazes me...........! :coolsmiley:

Well, they say it's kinda fright'nin' how this younger generation swings.
You know, it's more than just some new sensation.
Well, the kid is into losin' sleep and he don't come home for half the week.
You know, it's more than just an aggravation.
    And the cradle will rock.
    Yes, the cradle will rock.
    And I say, rock on!

I'm not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm just talkin' 'bout my g-g-g-generation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
