I made mine more Rocksmith friendly =)
Is that a Vintage Faded ?
Where on earth did you find a rainbow set of strings????
Not my Sexy Guitar
Ohmy! You get extra points for having an "Alternative Tentacles" SG!!! (for those not acquainted with that term, it is the record label started by Jello Biafra (DKs) in the 1980s to showcase their own recordings as well as other independent acts.
A TRUST fan!! (I'm referring to his avatar pic) They were one of my faves in highschool. Though I was heavily into political punk at that point I always appreciated them for having the most politically relevant lyrics in rock'n roll.
Special 60s tribute. Virtuosso Polish and voilà, the perfect finish. Not so shinny and plasticky and not so dull and cheap looking.
Gibson minihumbucker in bridge, I love that pickup. PAF classic tone with a touch more sparkle and P90 character. Another minihumbucker is coming for the neck.
Before and after.
Now you have me wanting to polish my Epi SG Vintage. I always found it a little flat looking with that satin finish on it. The color and the grain seem to be desaturated, hiden under a cloudy finish.
I decided to try the back first with a polishing compound.
MAMMMA MIA !
Now I'll have to dismantle the whole guitar to do the top. My good sense tells me to wait for the next string change, but my guts want the whole shine now.
Here's the top as is.
and here's the back once polished !
wow Dr that looks great, what you use to polish it
Car compound with a polishing pad on an orbital sander.
really ,looks fantastic
Strange Gibson my friend...
Beautiful with the neck P90
Thanks. I'll do the top eventually. For now, I'll hang it with the back showing :)
There's a lot to be said for carved top SGs. I'm looking forward to adding mine to this collection!!!
DR makes 'em
