  • Sir, Thank you for sharing your knowledge Col. My 1970 standard has a Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge. It's OK. A match for the neck pup is proving hard to find and expensive. Any suggestions for a good substitute? Thanks for your time. Don

    Hello Alex

Gibson '57 Classics are what I installed in my SG special, and those are also pricey, but they are Gibson's modern attempt to duplicate the old pickups. So a set of those would be a good choice, IMHO. Good luck and good wishes.

Also, this site has a whole section on pickups. Lots of opinions there from experienced players. Lots to think over. Your original pickups were called T-Tops.
Just wanted to say thanks. I went and bought some of that Howard's feed and wax and have been using it on my SGJ. What a huge difference...i figure i might need to use it a few times to start building up the shine..but i can see a difference already after two uses

Glad to hear that you've found something you like. I don't use the stuff more than about twice a year. It's wax, so I don't want to build up too thick of a coat. But it rubs off, seemingly.
