You might want to try replacing those GFS hb's with some Dimarzio SuperDistortion HB's. The SuperDistortions are light on the treble and strong on the mids and lows, and are hot but no ice pickiness. Just plain hot with lots of lower end eq and adequate highs. They are really awesome pickups... -

Nice guitar. You can get new black covers for the P90's for probably less than a dollar each. You could even get a new pickguard if you wanted to. You can get brand new screws to replace those rusted ones. That would be an awesome P90 guitar. I like the natural wear - it gives it authentic...
