I've had a lovely Vintage G400 for a few years now, it's always been a great guitar but it was starting to have issues with some choked out notes, tuning instability and it needed a visual upgrade too.
First step was polishing the "worn" satin finish. Some spots were already shiny from arm wear and it was looking a bit patchy. So I stripped it down and polished it with some Meguiars Scratch X. It came out great!
Unfortunately I got pretty busy after that step, so it sat in the rack for a couple months. Over the last couple days I've finally had time to finish it up. First was a level, crown and polish of the frets. The original plastic nut was starting to give me some trouble, so I fitted it with a new bone nut too. All strung back up and it plays amazingly, I didn't put it down for awhile! These old Vintage models are such lovely guitars!
