Gibson SG headstock Logo and Crown alignment

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply the guitar is not legit. (It sure seems to be.) However, the placement of the silkscreened crown is clearly a factory error. If that doesn't bother you (and you are getting a good deal), there's certainly no harm in checking it out!

    Tuner help

The only thing I know about the pickups is the resistance on both the neck and bridge is north of 15K. Trogly puts the multimeter on them in this video: While that doesn’t tell everything, that usually makes for a pretty hot pickup (which they are)! People on forums have stated they have...

NGD GIBSON FLYING V 70'S TRIBUTE

Still rocking the V, @MR D ? What's your take on the pickups? I just got a (slightly) used one. Haven't had a chance to plug it into the rig yet, but have made a few "modifications"!

    Tuner help

Is that an Exclusive '70s Flying V, @ChrisM84 ? I just got one of the Classic White variants and have gone a little OCD with changes... What's your take on the pickups?

Scored an SG what model is it?

I think @Col Mustard was saying that, in addition to the baked maple fingerboard, the actual neck on his SG Special is maple instead of the Gibson-usual mahogany.

Maiden Post at the forum: Which one do I go for?

Just make sure you don't torque the replacement buttons down too much if they are plastic. They can and will crack. Ask me how I know...

Scored an SG what model is it?

Actually, I'd say it is an SG Standard Limited to be exact. The color is probably Aged Cherry. Pickups are 490R/498T. The answers to all your questions are most likely here: SG Wiki

Looking at 2002 SG, restored- what should I look for?

That SG screams of vibe to me! Super cool! Hopefully you can make it happen, @Alathea_Sq2ured

    Changing bridge pot?

@funkysoul1 Your guitar should have 500k pots straight from the factory. I’ve never heard of changing pot values to make a pickup louder. (Perhaps brighter and/or darker…) Unless you want to get into modifying the pickup(s) with different magnets (which is not a big deal in P90s), your best...

    Post your Gibson SG’s!

Very cool! All the other current USA Specials I’ve seen have a silk-screened logo. (Except for the Iommi, of course…)

    Maestro Vibrola SG Special Installation?

Sage advice, Dude. In my situation, the Firebird was already equipped with a vibrola. So, putting the replacement in was just a simple swap. (I think I was able to keep the same strings on the guitar!) In this case for @Langley , obviously more caution needs to be taken. I would think any...

    Maestro Vibrola SG Special Installation?

I used TonePros steel locking studs, for the sake of looking original from the top. They also make them out of brass. Not sure how much of an audible difference the material makes…
