    1964/65 SG Standard

The early 1965 models basically have 1964 specs, yes. Then you see "transitional" models where some parts may be nickel, others chrome. And the nut width is narrowed down to 9/16" The pickups may or may not be the same, the difference being that the T-tops appeared some time mid/late 1965. I...

    1965 SG Standard restoration project

I have been thinking about it. I am also considering buying an actual vintage one at one point. We'll see. This guitar is a long term project, really. I just wanted to make it into a playable instrument at first, and in time I'll hopefully find genuine vintage parts for it.

    A mutiny of reason.

Entering the third week pf lockdown here in Norway. We can't see any real effects of the lockdown in the numbers of people who have contracted the virus yet, but the number of people testing positive for the REGULAR flu is down from 15+% to around 3.5% of all people tested, so it is not unlikely...

Faber conversion studs for imperial/US bridge, help !

Aren’t those studs meant for the Faber ABRN-style bridges? Meaning ABR-sized bridges with Nashville-style holes? If so, a Gibson ABR1 would not fit.

    1965 SG Standard restoration project

By and by the idea is to collect genuine vintage parts. Right now I have used what I could get to put together a working guitar. In the current situation (temporarily laid off from work because of the corona thing...) I’m not willing (or able...) to spend the money.

Oh, plenty of time! Only one day at work this week. The only problem is that both my wife and kids are at home as well, so I can’t really turn it up...

Sounds very nice! Nice mids and sweet top end, slightly less bright than my Derek Trucks (which has late 1960s T-Tops installed).

    Post your Gibson SG’s!

Being stuck at home because of the corona thing, I figured posting an updated family pic of my Gibson SGs was a good idea. So, here we go, from left to right: 1963 EB0, 1965 Junior, 1965 Standard, 1975 SG-II and a 2014 Derek Trucks Signature. The EB0 is bone stock, the rest have some unoriginal...

    Coronavirus (Covid-19) affecting you any?

What really ticks me off, though, is the lack of solidarity shown by the hoarders.

Honestly, I bought the harness without really thinking about the caps. All my dual humbucker guitars have 22uf caps both in the neck and bridge, and I have a couple of spare 22uf caps, should I feel the need to change the 15 one. I usually turn down the tone controls a bit on both pickups, but I...

Got the harness and a poker chip on Thursday. Promptly installed it and put pointers and knosbs on the guitar. Everything working perfectly. Now I’m just waiting for the back plate and tenon cover.

    Coronavirus (Covid-19) affecting you any?

I was temporarily laid off today, for 14 days or until further notice. All kindergartens, schools and bars were shut down yesterday here in Norway. 80 % of our brewery's revenue is from bars.

Ordered a wiring harness and a poker chip today after selling a phaser pedal. i have a tenon cover and backplate on the way as well, and I already have a set of knobs. When it all arrives, I’ll have a complete guitar. The harness was pretty nice, an Emerson kit. It has a .015 uf cap in the neck...

    1965 SG Standard restoration project

Got a set of tuners yesterday, so I installed them and put strings on the guitar. I gave it a quick setup (Biddlin-style), and to my great satisfaction it plays very well. No fret buzz with a nice and low action. I filed the nut a bit, and it now stays in tune pretty damn well. I am never...
