My SG-3 Heritage Cherry model has an inked serial number on the back of the headstock of C 003. There is no wood stamping at all, just the ink....

I played an SG3 sc through a Marshall combo once.
It had a very meaty tone. It didn't sound anything like a Strat (thank goodness).
Yep, strong grain flow, chevrons running up the body, very bold.
