    Gibson SG Model?

Wow, never seen anything like that not even in the old catalogs. Either some funky one-off or someone creative combined a Norlin neck with an unknown body.

2015 Gibson SG Standard or Special

I always considered the 2015 models to be pariahs and less desirable because of the odd features of that year. Everywhere I've seen them, they've been cheaper not more expensive. The biggest notable feature that cannot be modded is the wider neck. They made them wider to accommodate the brass...

    SG Classic - Neck shape?

SG Classics are basically just SG Standards from that era with P90's and dots. So they have the same fatter neck profile as the pre-2013 large guard standard.

I'm a Marshallhead fan, and I also run A2 magnets in them vs the standard A5.

    Model number confusion

That era is usually pretty easy. 2012 and earlier standards going back to the late 80's all have the large pickguard and the 61RI had the small. Standards had a sizable neck and the 61 has the 60's flatter neck and the 61 has a larger flared headstock. The standard should have a Nashville and...

    CME vs Wildwood spec

No idea. The only difference I can see is the pickup specs, the details of which they both seem to keep quiet about.

Which Gibson “Original” SG should I be looking at?

I had a historic 2001 SG/LP standard that came with a Maestro and I converted it to a tune-o-matic. Same guitar, no other changes and there was a definite tone difference. The Maestro was a little warmer and softer. It lacked attack. The hardtail had more bite and response. It really comes down...

New Custom Shop SG with wrong Certificate of Authenticity

They just showed up at CME I got an email advertisement for them this morning, so I guess they are shipping already. I like the Maestro better than the sideways for sure though. https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/products/gibson-custom-shop-60th-anniversary-1961-sg-les-paul-1170404

New Custom Shop SG with wrong Certificate of Authenticity

Contact Gibson customer service, or better yet have the dealer you bought it from do so. I've heard horror stories that Gibson won't reissue certificates unless they have the guitar in their possession, however maybe the dealer having it and handling it for you would suffice. Keep us posted...

New Custom Shop SG with wrong Certificate of Authenticity

Last I checked, we live in the first world. So despite your dismissiveness, it does matter regardless of how it plays because it affects resale and even credibility in a world of fakes.

    Good buy?

SN# 023150415 is going to be a 2005, not a 2015. 1st and 5th digits. Also, 2015 was a weird year where they made the necks wide to accommodate the brass nut and has Les Paul 100 script on the headstocks. Nice guitar, as mentioned the ebony fretboard on a lower end model is a bonus. And it likely...

    My tarback pickup saga...

I suspect you're going to ruin them attempting any of that. Just like an EMG, imagine submerged in liquid wax that hardens, except it's not wax, it's epoxy, basically liquid plastic that hardens. They are in there forever I presume. Hate to see a $300 set of vintage pickups ruined, but I'm...

    2005 sg model identification help

I'm just curious as to which Duncan was in the neck? Should have had a white sticker on the back likely with an SH-xx model number.

Should be cherry, black, white, walnut, and pelham blue.

Getting new pickup for SG Standard.

Yep, that's why I use slanted pickup rings on large pickguard Standards, on the Flying V as well.
