I had them in my Carvin for up untill it got painted. The (free)paint job took about 3 months so I put them in another guitar a friend was loaning me. How many Gibson Iommi's here?
Sorry, no idea how thick the cap is if it is a cap and not a veneer, though I dont think Gibson subscribes to the fake top practice on American made guitars. If no one else knows, I always love an excuse to pop into the Gibson Showcase. I think someone here has one though... -

Gibson Cases
NO though personaly I think it's a good idea. I can jimmy the old case locks with a flat head screw driver in about 20 seconds. A good old master lock can (and I have personaly tested this) take a round or two from a twelve gauge before failing. What do you want securing YOUR guitar?- smk506

How many Gibson Iommi's here?
I had an epi I did this to once. The tip of the horn ended up shattering, probably since I just used a screwdriver to put the screw in. I wouldnt alter an Iommi if I had one, especially is I had 5 other sg's to compensate. Wide leather strap is all I can recomend. Also, since the sg supremes... -

is it worth changing stock pups in a epi lp special to...
I'd put em in the silver burst with or w/o covers. +10000 on learning to change your own. Very easy, and it takes about 15min to an hour tops. Ive saved hundreds doing it myself, enough for a cheep gibson or nice epiphpone for sure. -
