mjarema414, I put the same pickup combo into a Les Paul and had the same issue, only my guitar sounded bright on all strings no matter what I did. Tilted the pickups in every direction. Played through different amps. Installed heavier strings. Then I installed the RS kit and all that happened...
Re: Dimarzio PAF
This would be a good pickup for what you're wanting. If you want that open PAF sound, but also want a little more hotness when things are cranked up, go for the PAF Pro.
Only the Tom DeLonge signature axe, otherwise its a strictly aftermarket pickup.

Believe me, though, it has the thump you're looking for but also has great range and cleans up very well, which is where the big...
From drumsoloartist.com:
"Keith's drinking had become a serious problem. He had regular arguments with Kim and broke her nose on three occasions. One afternoon he chased Kim around the grounds at 'Tara' with a loaded shot gun. She was terrified and soon, Kim left him."
I'm sure he...
Exactly. Human beings are just too complex when it comes to artistic expression. Can't slam the art for the same reasons you'd slam the person.
And hell, I suggest that if old Ike didn't have the artistic outlet he'd have probably wound up in jail for quite a while. This is, of course, just a...
;D ;D I'm with you!
As far as the pickup you're looking for, two words: Dirty Fingers.

Strange, that's exactly what I thought about my Les Paul vs. SG, but the opposite - the Lester had the tone and playability.
Then I started playing Flying Vs and all previous notions of good tone and playabliity were shifted up a couple of notches. :) ;)
I've played one of the Combat Lesters. Good guitars, felt like one of the old Love Rock models.
If you're going to dump that much cash, though, just spend a little more and get a Gibson. ;)
Yeah, I agree with this. Spousal abuse indicates significant underlying emotional issues, and as an adult if you're not having those problems professionally addressed then you're just feeding the problem. Hell, for all I know he did get help, which would have been fantastic.
But then rock 'n...
Well, I've just answered my own question. Thanks to a Wikipedia entry, believe it or not, about halfway down the 'scarf joint' page:
"Applications
Moulding, trim other decorative applications where the material is not available in the lengths required.
Lengthening a board that has been cut...
I've always wondered about the scarf joint found at the headstock end on many guitars. I've also heard it called a "luthier joint," which appears to be the same thing. It seems to be especially found on Asian-made axes. Why build a neck this way? Is there any advantage/disadvantage to...
We cannot be listening to the same song. I think maybe you accientally hit the "Play Led Zeppelin" button instead of that link... :dontknow:
And, again, this form of advertising has a massively low cost/benefit ratio. Critical thinking has to take over at some point.
And stoned...
I agree with 1Way - to sound best the middle one should be set somewhere in between the other two heightwise, but it can get in the way sometimes so you may want to set it even lower than that. Also consider just taking out the middle pickup if you can live without it, by either disconnecting it...
Of course, this was the occasion when I convinced my crazy stripper girlfriend to float me a loan for a 5150 100W head, which sounded unbelievable at any volume. Repaid and dumped her, still got the head (no pun intended ;D ;)).
