That was actually the video that convinced me to get an SG and made me want a Rivera with it. you're spot on about the sound of chords with these amps.
I'd say that guitar looks great without a pickguard, but if you want to keep it clean then definitely white. Tortoise never really strikes me as fitting for Gibsons, Fenders definitely though. My vote is for no pickguard.
I agree with you completely, I wasn't knocking Biddlins guitars. I said the USA line les pauls hadn't been for me, and maybe I just haven't played "the one" that is for me out there. I'll admit my "thats not a les paul" statement was intended to be inflammatory because the guy was being a dick...
The same point in the comment you quoted. When I'm talking about the overpriced nature of a les paul, a les paul junior would not be evidence that it is not because a les paul junior is a les paul junior. Les paul juniors are overpriced though.
My whole point centered around Biddlin posting a variety of les pauls that were not standard les pauls as proof that a les paul is not overpriced. Its misleading and stupid to say that a les paul studio / x model is proof that les pauls are not overpriced.
Thats an awesome amp, Rivera amps is basically his work after fender.
No kidding, I've heard the fandango is polarizing in the way that it sounds but with as many controls as it has I'm sure you can make it suit your need.
I never said his guitars weren't Gibsons but you're right about the focus analogy. Applying it to the argument would go like this " Mustangs are overpriced." the response would be "No way man, check out my sweet 4cyl auto mustang with governor installed". This whole argument kicked off because I...
Yeah man, look around. I got my M60 for $700 and I could have talked it lower but I liked the guy. There are a few other models in the area as well. I think someone was selling a Knucklehead for like $800, and I know on reverb there is someone selling an M60 for under $500 in Sacramento. If...
a 1959 Les Paul Special is a Les Paul Special. A newer generation Les Paul Special is a Les Paul Special. The Les Paul Junior (both the original and the two pickup "LPJ") is a Les Paul Junior. A Les Paul Studio /Tribute are not Les Pauls, they are Les Paul Studios / Tributes. A Les Paul...
I'm in the east bay, bought my M60 from a guy in Valejo. Theres a couple on craigslist that look real cool. Like this one: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/msg/d/rivera-fandango-head-cab/6453957396.html
My qualm with Biddlin was that he was disputing my "les pauls are overpriced" claim by posting tributes, studios, and newer generation specials which is misleading because most of these guitars have been modified to make them cheaper to sell. It is also misleading because a "Les paul" is a les...
I actually did get to play the clubster royale in my search. Definitely an awesome amp. I was a bit intimidated by the M60's tonal options, push pull knobs "ninja boost" etc. But I spent a good week getting familiar and dialing it in and now I feel like I have the perfect distorted/clean combo...
