I was at an auction last week. Was alot of old guitar and bass items being sold. I managed to get this after it was auctioned and the original winner of the bid thought it was empty and complained...so it got reauctioned and i got it for $10. Imagine my surprise when i opened it and it still had the speaker intact. I am wondering if it is a guitar cab or a bass cab..and is it a Traynor? or some other maker

    Watt head are you using?

I would flip it over if it is in fact a CW 4 ohm......I doubt it. YOu probably need at least an 8 ohm

Honestly it looks like a Cerwin Vega .......why it would be in that cabinet I have no idea.....maybe thats why the original bidder was miffed???

The red ring would lead me to believe that it is a Cerwin Vega. The W15P stamp would lead me to believe it is a 15" Cerwin Vega. Cv makes high quality home audio speakers and this could be the woofer from a loud speaker like this. These were preferred speakers to use for a sub-woofer cabinet in car audio use in the 80's and would probably be a 4 ohm. If it was pulled from a loud speaker like the one pictured below, his is more than likely an 8 ohm speaker. Either way it will sound great with a bass amp. Only way to know for sure is to measure it with a VOM.

thats a big help...so i will check to see what ohms it is, then i can sell it as a bass cab and get more money for something else :) Not a bad deal then for 10 bucks.
