I'm just starting to look around for a 1960s era SG Special. Based on what I've read and looked at so far, it appears that the nut width varied with different production years. I'm hoping all the enthusiasts on here can set me straight about that. If they do vary, what years should I look for if I want one with a nut width at 1.687" / 42.85mm? Thanks.
Before 1965 nut width was 1 11/16 In early 1965 nut width was 1 5/8 Mid to late 1965 it was 1 9/16 and that went for the rest of the 60s
I realize this thread is several months old but wanted to chime in regarding 60’s era nut widths. The width of my 1968 SG Special is 1.5 inches.
