Hi, does anybody know what colour finish these two SG's are from 1970? Is it just faded walnut? The Gibson brochure of the period only mentions cherry or walnut as finish options but I have heard natural was available? Any info would be very gratefully received. Thanks.

if you look closely, for the standard there is a shot of the control cavity which shows a darker color inside.
so could very well be a faded cherry.

as for the deluxe, i think that's a special.
and it does look like natural.

i have a 70 Standard with exact the same colour as the two ebay examples. i tend to say that it's walnut. mine is also darker under the pg and in the control cavity but by no means reddish like the ebay SG Standard. Interesting....

first one looked like walnut finishes I have seen before. Second one not so sure and could very well be a cherry that has faded or even a refin. Hard to tell just from pics.

The ebay guitar pics are of Cherry that has faded out and the clear has yellowed. I had a '70 standard for many years that looked the same. Walnut guitars are very dark.
