Being a newbie here myself and having recently scored an SG Standard too, welcome! :) :rockin:

Apparently these SG Standards can be either orange-ish, reddish or brownish in colour, mine is definately in the brownish camp, judging by your photo, yours looks very red. Nice guitar, enjoy! I know that I'm really loving mine. 8)

Yeah, I believe that's what he meant. I like the idea (it was Angus's).

Well first of all I don't see what's wrong with plastic... everybody uses it for pickguards, cavity covers, etc.

Could you show me a pic of this "Tommy I"? I can't seem to find any info on it through Google.

    Long time listener/first time caller.

So lemme piggyback on this thread. I'm interested in a 2008 Standard. It has the 50's neck. What the hell does that mean? I'm more used to the Fender lingo of U or C shaped necks. Is 50s C? The Eisenhower era seems kinda C-ish to me.

My kingdom if any of you know how that sort of neck compares with a late 90s Telecaster Custom Reissue.

    Thanks!
