I think those were priced close to the Gibson SG faded specials...
    like about $699 US.

But later we saw many of those for sale later by mass marketeers for
    more like $499 didn't we?

Or was I watching The Travel Channel?

List was around $1k, sale $500, clearance $400.

    2013 SGJ
    Thickness at 1st fret: 0.818”
    Thickness at 12th fret: 0.963”
    Rounded profile

I have yet to run across an SG with a 50’s neck like one on an LP.

Used to think my SG Specials and Classics were fairly chunky until I got a custom shop LP Special with a fat 50’s neck (0.925-1.000”) with lots of shoulder.

To me, SG necks now feel like playing a ruler by comparison to an LP with a fat 50’s neck.

I went to try that SGJ for a trade. That ain't no 50's profile. It's pretty much the same as my Epiphone G400 Vintage, which I consider superior in built, looks and feel. Every time I try a humbucker equipped Gibson SG, I come to the same conclusion. I guess I'll stop looking.

Yes it is. I don't think the SGJ would have replaced it, more like a complement.

Short of its metric hardware and the top inch of its headstock, this G400 is pretty close to a Gibson.
One piece neck, wings on the headstock like the real thing, no veneer solid mahogany, long tenon, cream color bound fretboard.
It has a set of Tyson Tone PAFs in it.

    i had a 2013...definitely not as fat as a 50s neck i had on a LP...
also not 60s slim taper either... so ya somewhere in between.
obviously been modded...kinda wished I still had it now...
oh ya i bought it new back then for around $580-590?

Yeah, that's the one, Nice guitar, I also own a Korean made Epi Les paul/sg custom, it has the proper custom.JPG baseball bat neck, pretty much the same taper all the way to the heel
