Hello everyone, had a quick issue that I hope the fine folks here can help me with. I am looking for a white/parchment/cream (Any of the three at this point since I know the white binding will age eventually) pickguard for my 2018 Standard. (The one in my profile pic) I have ordered 3 different small SG pickguards from different sellers on Reverb and Ebay that claim they fit Gibsons and none of the three fit my guitar. Does anyone know where I can purchase one that will fit a 2018 standard? I assume, but am not certain, that it is the same pattern as the '61 reissue but all three I have tried so far (one that claimed it was for the '61 and two that just said Gibson) had at least one screw hole that did not line up. I want to try white/cream plastics on this guitar and I am stuck when it comes to the pickguard and I don't want to spend a lot of money on stuff that won't fit. I would be fine ordering from an actual company or website if I know that it will fit. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
Thanks for the replies; I ordered a full kit from Creamtone after comparing a few and they said theirs should certainly fit so I am looking forward to it!
If you have the one that came with it (and fits) you can send it to someone like Pickguardian and they can duplicate it in a different material.
Well, the Creamtone pickguard fit like a glove! Not gonna replace all of the plastics until the next restring but finally got what I wanted!
As you're well aware of, the new pickguard looks great ! Be careful to protect the guitar while putting the new rings on. Pasteboard covered with t-shirt material works good. I've found a small pair of hemostats helpfull to compress the spring when starting to first thread each screw into its pickup leg. Put the screw in the pickup ring, put the spring on the screw, use the hemostats to compress the spring a little and clamp it, then start the screw into the pickup square-ly using the hemostats. Looking forward to the finished results !
https://www.harborfreight.com/3-1-2-half-inch-locking-clamp-99931.html Harbor Freight is a great source for small hand tools. Although I called them HEMOSTATS, they call them "locking clamp pliers" Either way, they're less than three dollars. And they sure make dealing with pickups less hassle. While your there, They also have some nice sets of precision mini-files. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-piece-precision-needle-file-set-4614.html
