16376725719686537726467795097026.jpg Hi all, haven't posted in awhile but thought I would share my latest. I previously owned an Epiphone Tony Iommi Signature SG which I really dug but was getting tired of the whole look, and in my guitar learning curve I ended up not playing much Sabbath anyway. I thought it was very playable until I started playing a Heritage Cherry 2021 SG Standard in GC. My Lord this thing feels like silk in my hands, the neck is like a dream and just about plays itself. After multiple trips to the store and asking to get this unlocked so I could play it, I ended up trading in my Iommi and a few other items to get the price down and bought the Standard. I just can't put this down. I thought I would miss the Iommi pickups, they were great, but I can dial in the 490s and my Marshall DSL40CR for similar and even sweeter tones now. No regrets

I did adjust intonation a bit when I got it home, after restringing, seems spot on now. Doesn't look like your picture, but 12th fret to open strings are showing the same on my clip on tuner.....

Congrats, this Cherry finish is nice, not orange like 2020-2021 other SGs.

I like Iommi, but I think he sounded best on the first two albums before he started having Birch build him pickups.

Mahogany grain can vary a lot and have swirls, BTW.

The lighting can make a big difference. That pic of Rossington is outdoors in direct sunlight.

Yes what a great Guitar. Those Standards are certainly one of the nicest and most versatile guitars out now.

Congratulations on NGD !! SWEEET ! Did you get a Hard-Shell Case w/Standard..... or that pathetic Hag-bag? ? GIBSON USA Standards should have a HSCase, IMO. thats a cheapo move by GIBSON if they gave ya the Hag-Bag....but an extra $200 is a must if no HSCase, yes ? ........Those DSL40's ROCK.......The '59 Plexi- Channel (Classic-Gain Channel, Green Light ON, Button IN (?)) on the DSL 40's is BAD-A$$....Heaviest Bass Tones you can get out of a sub $1,000 AMP, IME ...just swap out the speaker, the 70/80 is a Dud ! Sorry I sold mine, bad move.... w/Celestion Cream-Back in it stock, it had its share of problems BUT......that fuckin thing howled when it was right !

What did you set the Neck Relief on the new Standard at ? Dead Straight as possible (.003" @ 9TH Fret) ??? I set my 2020 'Modern' SG Standard @ almost dead straight (Same Guitar really) and its TIGHT ! Notes fly off the Fret-Board. Lightest Guitar I ever owned too, just a C.H. under 6 Lbs.....the 490's ROCK, get the job done...I swapped 'em out tho, 1st thang ! just then Cut a Nut for it .....added Locking Kluson Revolutions and a Doozy LT II Tremolo, one Li'l Cannon of a 'Modern' SG Standard ($$$$$$) !

Ya cant go wrong w/an SG Standard !

congratulations... there's no substitute for playing a guitar before buying it,
and also for doing everything you can to buy the one that comes alive in your hands.

I usually caution people NOT to sell their SG, but to sell something else to raise
funds... but in this case it seems like you did the right thing.

Your new SG is lovely! And if it feels right and sounds right, all the better.

Came with a useless thin black fabric plastic zipper gig bag. Worse than useless absolutely no protection for the headstock joint. Good thing I saved my hardshell epiphone case it will do for now. That was my only disappointment though its not a guitar issue its an accessories issue. Still, what was Gibson thinking with that bag?

There could be another way. Getting used to the new guitar and adjust yourself to the different neck....
Like Johnny Ramone, he bought the cheapest guitar from the pawn shop - Mosrite Ventures II for 50$ and he played it for the rest of his life
