Don't know anything about this really, so here are some pics. :)

The headstock says "Avon Rose Morris - Japan".
The plate for the bolt on neck also says "Made In Japan".

It's certainly from the 70's [at least]. The telephone number for the music store on the back of the neck is a five-digit UK telephone number - as far as I can remember, numbers were six digit in the 80's.

I've always wondered what is missing - about 2/3rds of the way down on the body, there are two screw holes, where some kind of cover must have been attached - but not sure what it would have looked like, so intrigued about that.

I had to replace the tone and volume knobs - whilst it had one original knob, the other was a while strat knob [yuk!] - so when I got some SG type spares, I replaced them.

I'm no bass afficianado, but I enjoy playing this, and it has a nice dirty rock sound. :)

So, anyone know anything about these?

in my own little world... apparently
very interesting. have not ever seen one of these nor can i find much on the internet other than a few posts that reference it from other forums.

i wonder about those two holes as well. maybe a cosmetic only chrome cover that bridged over the strings?

its not an Avon phil.. just a pic to highlight that bridge/rest thing over the strings where Rox has got those 2 holes.

Is that cover designed as something to park your palm whilst playing do you think? I can't really see any other practical reason for it to be there... now the question is should I try and get hold of something similar..? :)

[shhh, don't tell anyone, but I've had this bass for around 15 years - my dad bought it from a car boot sale - and the strings on it are the same ones that were on it back then - and it has stayed in tune pretty much for the whole time - I have rarely had to tune it!] :D ;D
