Hey Guys,

I'm overhauling my Epi SG G400 from the early 2000's. It seems to have a somewhat uncommon (as far as I can tell) 80mm post to post spacing for the tailpiece. Can anyone recommend a good replacement?

Thanks in advance

Measure from left side of one stud to left side of other stud. More precise than trying to find stud centers. Mine are ±82mm.

I doubt the tailpiece will change the tone in any way. You can find them on eBay. Just look for a metric TOM tailpiece or Epiphone tailpiece.

Just double checked with a pair of calipers and I'm still getting 80mm.

Any luck... Odd to hear that an Epiphone has an 80mm tail, not 82mm... but that said, I have a Kay SG from the 70s, bought a standard tuneomatic and tail for it because someone stripped the hardware off it, and tuneomatic fit perfectly, but, tail won't.

If I back the studs out halfway there's enough wiggle to fit, but if you try to lower the tail, you can hear the wood/finish starting to crack.

2mm... Just enough to make things difficult.
