I never posted these before because I thought, "Why would anyone care about pics of three stock SGs?", but it's clear to me now that we all drool over pictures our favorite guitars, stock or not.
I'm pretty new to the world of Epiphones and SGs, but I've become completely hooked. Since buying that Epi Custom SG and the Gibson Standard (posted those back in the winter), I've bought three more Epiphone SGs, and I have no regrets at all!
Here they are:
1966 G-400 Reissue Silverburst:
I bought this because it's unique. The silverburst looks really slick on an SG, and I love the thick, old-style Gibson neck profile on it. The pickups on it sound great - nice and crisp but with plenty of mid and low end. Sounds awesome on clean settings. I've been playing this one a lot.
If I weren't on an Epi SG forum, you guys would think I'm insane for buying two versions of the exact same model: the G-400 Faded, in both worn cherry and worn brown:
I really love the faded look of the Epi SG, and I love both the cherry and brown. Bought the cherry first ($150), then when I saw the brown for $175, I couldn't resist. Turns out these two guitars do have differences. The brown one has a thicker, fatter neck than the cherry, which is a thin 60's tapered neck, so the two guitars feel differently from one another. Also, the cherry is an older model, the pearl inlays have that cool yellowed effect that comes from age. The pickups are great too in both guitars, and couldn't even imagine wanting to swap them out. This is my favorite SG of all.
All three of these axes are awesome, and I play them a lot. I like them a lot better than my Gibson, believe it or not. They have a ton of mojo, whereas the Gibson doesn't quite have it for me.
