Please do tell. I want to know all about it. I'm so done with my Gibson 2002 with its baseball bat neck, I would really like something more comfortable. I cannot afford a standard right now, nor can ANYONE with our worldly situation. What's your review of this beast?

It at least looks more appealing then the Gibson Faded; with binding, smoother looking finish (maybe), tapered thin neck and lighter weight. And of course, the newer Gibson-like headstock si a major plus. I can't stand that cheapo gold spraypaint Gibson logo on the Faded models. Come on!!
Let's hear about your 2020 version!

Here are photos of mine just out of the box about a month ago (seems like a year with all that's happened)
Frets are pretty good though I do have some minor buzzing on the A string up to the 5th fret and a little roughness here and there. Nothing that really gets in the way.
Neck feels good. Very different from my '69 Special. Slim Taper.
Wood is nice. I'm tempted to give it a finish that'll show it off more.
Pickups have a nice bite to them. Great 'kerrang!' off the top strings on Emaj.

I'm really enjoying playing. It's a bit of solace for me as my family hunkers down-though maybe not so much for them!

beautiful! Is the neck in need of oiling? It looks dry, but it may be just the color. I really like it and would grab one of these if I have the chance. I've given up on trying to buy a standard here in Chile... they are way to expensive. I've commented in years past that my Epiphone G310 is fantastic to play, much more comfortable than the Gibson and has a neck that is thin and fast. I put Seymours in it, so it screams. BUT, the Gibson is clearer with more definition. Maybe the pickups, maybe electronics, not sure, but that is only if they are compared back to back. If not, the G310 feels great. Thanks for sharing. Yeah, give it a polish job.

I have oiled the fretboard, which helped.

On these photos the red stain doesn't seem as saturated as you described it before.

If you want the grain to really pop out, go over the body with a fine car paint compound. I did it on my 2004 Vintage G400. Before the color was kind of dead, flat. Even the hue changed, warmer I'd say.

    Hmmm, some years ago.
As usual, I probably used what I already had on a shelf. So either this polishing compound I bought ... 55 years ago, when I was doing airbrush on motorcycle gaz tanks.

Or one of these polishing/cleaning products, which basically contain the same very light abrasive.

Maybe try it on the back of the headstok to first test it. It might give you a different finish, since the Vintage G400 was a full poly satin coat on filled grain, so a very even surface. As yours look more like open grain, if still a satin poly.

No veneer on either Piper68Special's or mine and of course they neck dive. Do they neck dive wtihout throwing them out the window is another question.

Grain is extremely open on the 2020 Classics. I have the red one too (but woulda jumped on a green one if it had been in stock at Smash).

These look well made, for the price. Finishing looks tidy, judging by those pics.

I see that Epi has went with the larger/longer neck heel on these models. I like the feel of the small 62ish heel. But great looking axe!

Jean, I enjoyed seeing your work on your website. Very nice indeed. In the portraits section, are those digital, mixed media, oil, etc??

    Thanks.

Most all pieces are hand painted in acrylics. Except for a small series on rocks and dunes by the ocean, that are a mix of photos and paint. Images #2 to #39 on the 2010 et avant page.

It's a green manalishi with the two pronged crown. Tipton approved.

If I still lived in Seattle, I'd consider purchasing something. They are very nice.
