At least, that's what I hope. Going to pick it up tonight (Europe).

    A 2011 50th Anniversary SG Special in cherry :D
Let's hope there are no hidden defects....

My hero, Eddie Van Halen, died yesterday and I needed some comfort, so what better way to honor your guitar god than by getting a new/old guitar?

P90s, deep carves and neck binding... what else does one need?

THAT is a seriously good SG. I had a black one for a while, but I couldn't deal with the very thin neck. Tone monster though.

    It is.
Frets are a bit scratchy, so I will have to polish them a bit with the next string change, but that's no big deal.

A small let-down is a short finish crack along the fretboard from the nut upwards. About 2 cm long.
Definitely not a crack in the wood or anything and the headstock is as stable as can be expected, but you can feel it a little.
Only noticed it when I got home.... but for a 10 year old guitar, I can live with it.

The P90s sound delicious :D Such clarity and every single note is present.

I had a Chinese 'Custom 24' with Roswell P90s but they sounded nowhere near as nice as these Epiphones...

What I do notice about the Chinese made Epis (like the black one with the Vibrola that I have) is that they are longer and they don't fit the regular ABS cases I use for the Korean Custom. Anyone else notice this and any recommendation for a case that fits?

That is one sweet-tee of a Special! Congrats!
It's got a better home it sounds like...
Makes you wonder what these people think...
Sorry, that was in reference to the "missing a string and 2 wound backwards " comment...

Looks awesome. Are these Gibson or Epiphone deluxe tuners? I cant read it. But i Can tell that it looks super cool on SG. I am tempted to get on of these tuners on some of my SGs. Not sure if some drilling will be required tho.....
I love the wood pattern, especially on the fretboard. The fretboard looks super fantastic, that wood! Omg. Love it

As far as I know, they are original for this guitar. They are not the smoothest but they keep the guitar in tune.

To answer my own question :thumb:: I have bought the Gator sw-sg-brown for this one and it fits like a glove! Really beautiful case, with pink interior and...a blanket :wow:

I had a black one way back when they were produced and it came with a very good quality soft case that was labelled SG 61 50th Anniversary.
I still have this soft case and still does the job for another Epi.

Though a hardshell case is better of course, yours looks quite good.
