What color for pickguard on my newly painted Maui blue SG? I am leaning toward tortise but still wobbling a bit. Or I may just paint the black PG I have the same color as the body.

Personally, I'd keep it light and bright with a cream colour - like the Tweedy Pelham SGs. Especially as it's a large pickguard. TBH, I can't stand tortoiseshell pickguards, anytime I see one I just think 'why do that to a guitar?' Obviously, a lot of people like 'em. Reverend seem to love putting them on their guitars.

I'm with the cream or same color as body, or mirror. Depends on your outlook on life I guess... What kind of music will be played?

Cream or that white pearl thing there I'd say then.

To me, dark burgundy tort (not red) or black would look good and keep it in the Gibson aesthetics camp. Cream or mint green would also be cool, but take things toward the Fender aesthetics. It's all about what you like.

A large pattern Dalmatian tort or tiger stripe tort would be pimpin'.

I love a tortoise shell pickguard, especially on a Gibson. Though I do somewhat agree with Col Mustard, the black look it a classic too. Not a fan of the sparkly white one

I recently fitted a white pearloid batwing on my Blood orange fade 2018 hp-ii (didn't put the screws in yet) and vote for that one  IMG_20200713_204740.jpg

Blue guitars look best with white pickguards.

Here's same guitar with gold pickguard:

(Damn, I took the gold off a few months ago. Forgot how cool it looks.)
