some players are not sensitive to neck dive, I am.
I am considering and SG Tribute with the rounder neck profile.

How much / how strong is the neck dive on these?
Thanks

They’re all different. Most have no neck dive at all. Depends on the weight of the body, neck, tuners, etc…and combination of those.
I have 5 SGs and nine have neck dive at all.

I noticed that light weight SGs has neck dive, they are usually around ±2.5 kg. Close to 3kg usually balanced. I played different units in my local shops, all Standards were light and all of them together with neck dive, in opposite side all Specials and Junior were heavier without this option. On Reverb and some other shops are posting weight of their guitars, my assumption that for SG it can be solution for a choice.
How quickly to fix neck dive - use wide strap.

I agree with the tuners and body weight being pivotal with the balance issue.

I have an EPI G400 that would be my forever SG if not for the slim taper D neck.

Since you mentioned the strap solution: It has a fair bit of neck dive that is easily tamed with the Well-Hung Bad Hombre strap!

For those unfamiliar, I'll throw in an endorsement for the shop (don't forget the hyphen in the name if searching):

Hand made by 1 man, great quality products at reasonable prices!
The strap smith, Brad, is also a very creative and humorous fella as well.

He takes custom orders too. I got a somewhat custom strap made by him last year.
I inquired about one of the straps on his Reverb store, to confirm the maximum length.
He made me another, longer as he didn't want me to barely make it on the last / longest loop.

Ok, I also had an Agile AD-2300 double cut P90 guitar that was absolutely the **** for me.
But, the neck dive was bad: it was even too tough for the Bad Hombre.
Really hated to accept it just wasn't gonna work for me.

Cant find my pics with it on the EPI, but here is the Agile:

Agree with all the above posts regarding body weight, tuners, neck weight etc.

Also short or long tenon neck joint makes a difference. The short tenon guitars have the strap button closer to the body and are more susceptible to neck dive.

Regarding strap solutions; Comfort Strapp makes a good stretchy neoprene strap that is resistant to slipping and neck dive. The neoprene and accordion construction on the top almost gives the strap a suspension type feel to it.

play it before you buy it...
that's how you know.

If you are sensitive to neck shapes, play it before you buy it.
No internet guru can tell you if the neck will suit your rebellious hand.
If you refuse to be sensitive to neck shapes, choose your guitar
based on the tone you need for the music, and tell you hand
to play it. Get it set up and rock.

If you are sensitive to neck dive, play it before you buy it.
I have two SG specials, one neck dives very slightly but it has a maple neck and oversize '70s style headstock. I have a good strap on it and
it gives me no trouble.
My other SG special balances perfectly.

moving the screw for the rear strap button a few cm higher will also
solve neck dive. so will removing heavy tuners and replacing with
standard Kluson style, and using the self locking method of installing
strings.

I really wish I can relate to these questions sometimes, but I dont I have a neck dive on mine. Ive had friends come by and show them, id walk around and mine doesn't dive, they get a kick out of it 🤷🏻‍♂️. However im 5'11, and my strap is a little lower but not awkwardly low. I do own a epiphone with a glossy finish, and i find after I clean it(mainly after putting new strings on) that tends to move where I polish it.

I have a Faded SG, and idk, I wish I could provide more. I just have an ernie ball strap on it. Could swing by a craft store an maybe pickup some type of rubber-like tape, and tape under your strap where it sits on your shoulder?

I’ve had two specials. I put locking klusons on both. One was 6 lbs 11 oz, one was 7 lbs 3 oz. Neither one dove. I use wide Levy’s leather straps though. Maybe if I used slippery straps? I don’t know why I’d ever want to use a slippery strap regardless.

i have had around 20 or so sg’s over my life and have never had this neck dive problem. i use a skinny 1/2 inch fender leather strap and can let them go and they stay pretty much where they are. maybe my 60 year old beer gut holds them up.

Show me the tuners and talk about neck dive.
The other SG style guitars and double cuts that have the strap button behind the neck heel that I had with bad neck dive (none were actual Gibson SG), all had Grover or similar style tuners. I agree the heavier tuners contribute to this.

The Gibson SG Tribute I am referring to has the Gibson Vintage style tuners - and found to have no neck dive!
