there is a 8-track that fostex makes.. very similar.
but it has 4 inputs instead of just two.
it also has a 40GB hard drive.. i know from experience that flash media can be a pain. (the 128 Mega Bite cards)
if you plan on recording with a band and want to do it all in one take (assuming you have four or less people) its the way to go if you dont want to use a mixer.

    this is what i got:
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Guitar/Recording/Gear?sku=241107

although it only has two inputs, it has phantom power so you can use condensor mics
it has some 127 different effects for guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, vocals, and drums which are awesome for just plugging straight into it.
it is an amazing machine. the 40 GB hard drive is way more than enoguh.   :coolsmiley:
im glad i spent the extra dollar

here is that fostex 8 track one:  (i think

it doesnt say the price for some reason.. but it goes for 400 at Music 123

    hope this helps...

I'd definitely go with the TASCAM or a Korg machine. The Fostex units with the built in hard drive are notoriously BAD, mainly because the use the very cheap and HIGHLY unreliable Maxtor hard drive which will crap out in no time flat. >:( :nono: :angryfire:

Our bassist has got a Fortex 8-track.
We've done some demos on it. It's hard to work with, but s'allright for getting ideas down.

...and it's not red either. Boo! :p
