A photo of my modded Melody Maker from the eighties. Similar to where you're going with yours.

.. That is an interesting looking bass there .. lot of controls .. I use an SG wiring harness .. but when hooking it up I got it out of phase as shown when I toggle to the middle .. I have just left it that way .. the Gibson SB-350 I have traded off but still have the mini-buckers that were in it ..

.. I may put them in a guitar .. IDK .. the old Gibson basses I have tried .. had action like a bow and arrow .. and I spent a bit that even involved metal grinding of the new Schaller bridge I went to on the 350 .. and .. I got the action obviously much lower than the tilto-matic .. but nah .. even leveling the neck .. nope ..

.. now the SG body thing I got .. that is 24 frets and really a Yamaha with SG sides glued to it .. and plays better .. but is unwieldy .. having the neck that far out ..

What am I saying from the '80s ? That was 1976 ! Memories are things that fade away ... but attitude is everything.

Traynor Super Custom Special YBA-3A with two JBL 15" in custom cabs. That thing rocked ... so did I.

Man, I remember those days. Early 70's with the 27- 28 waist line...

But after many years....... the hair is getting grey. the waist is at 34- 36 and the forehead has gone north... a lot. But at least I have one hell of a comb over....... and the hat is standard equipment...

Like the music you did "once upon a time ago" and the looks you had "way back when"...... is like everything else in life. You need to pace yourself so you don't burn your candle at both ends...........

(But if you do, go down to Ace and get more wax immediately!)
