Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed?
Voxy made that for me.......It doesn't even use batteries! ;D
And all output! ;D
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? I have the Duecetone Rat. Gives me Turbo, Vintage, and a bunch of other rats all in one Big Muff sized box Plus you can cascade one side into the other to get super nasty if you so desired. Kind of wish I had a Rick 620 so I could plug in in stereo I'm a Vox tube amp guy though and Rats have a nice way of distorting with them...not into the Marshall sound at all personally. Paul
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? Carl Martin Plexitone - the only thing I have found that makes any guitar sound good and a fender sound like a marshall. Two channels plus clean boost.
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? The "FAT" switch on my Blues Jr. amp.... seriously, I no longer use pedals, I learned to use the amp to get a much better overdrive with tone, better than any pedal I've used, and I've had many.....
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? +1 on the EH Hot Tubes (not the new one with the tube) another good one i think is the MXR Overdrive from the early 80ies Commande Series. Cheap plastic case, only one screw and a non-functional switch. But...great sound with a lot more bass and transparency than the generic TS9 or OD-1, SD 1 etc.... It`s not for HiFi Lovers cause it`s noisy and raw (like the EH Hot Tubes but with a lot of output for boosting an dimed amp for leads) With a little soldering action it`s easy to rehouse it in a sturdy box with a good switch. This MXR only costs a few bucks. cheers
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? Well, for straight-up distortion into a clean amp, I haven't met a pedal I really like yet. Instead, my choice is the very versatile fuzz-to-distortion-esque sweepable, changeable, tweakable Zoom UF-01 Ultra Fuzz. I love that pedal. But if we're talking overdrive, I've got a Diamond J-Drive mk1 that slays.
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed?
I'm a fan of the fulldrive 2 you thread snatchers!
My favourite, too.
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? I have a fulltone ocd that is freaking awesome. You can get that real wide trower sound.
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? As far as distortion goes, I think the best one is still de good old DS-1 after many years of buying and trading I finally went back to this one! I also love the Rat and the Distortion +. I really hate Over the top, fully modern metal distortion. I also have a Green muff and a TS when I feel for different flavors!
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever palyed? Try a Rothwell Hellbender. :) http://proguitarshop.com/store/over...99/rothwell-hellbender-overdrive-pedal-p-1014
Re: best distorion pedal youve ever played? SOunds really interessing! DO you thing I can do punk and grnge stuff with that? The highest gain I love is Nirvana or the like!
Love the Boss DS-1 myself, was my first pedal, now i mainly use the Boss metal zone, some people may not like it but i love it!
Nothing will ever top an old ProCo Rat, although I have a Retro Sonic Distortion -- which is a Rat clone -- and it's wonderful.
I found the combination of my TS7 (808-modded by Stinkfoot) in front of my Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive to be a winning combination in my case. Just bought a Little Big Muff, but it just doesn't seem to do the trick, it's collecting dust for the time being.
to make this more specific, how about recommendations for distortion pedals under $100 as well as those that are higher priced since alot of forum members are on limited budgets these days. Or how about the really cheap options adn give a recommendation in the $50 range. I'd say boss blues driver or tube screamer in the $100 range with older tube drivers getting the nod over new ones. In the $50 range, I like the digitec bad monkey. They may not measure up to the boutique distortion pedals but for the price, they are worth a look.
The Bad Monkey is a really good option, but the new hardwire pedal are best bang for the buck IMO! Seriously the tube distortion is really nice and the reverb is soooo sweet!
