check it out... the best version of this that I've heard.
this is one of the reasons I'm an SG fan.
I was a young buck when this band recorded this version of this song
I saw them perform this several times. (right place right time) I smoked a joint with Sam and Janis in back of the Doggie Diner on Chavez and Army one afternoon in 1968 with that very guitar sitting on the back seat of 64 Dodge Polara. They were on their way to a gig and stopped for a shake and fries, $1.10 with tax, iirc.
The one time that I was close enough to converse with Janis, my tongue was hopelessly tied. She was my kryptonite. A few months before she passed, I saw her perform this Gershwin classic one last time in Sacotomatoes. Every time I saw her, she left every last ounce of her being on the stage and still we clamored for more...........Sam was quite remarkable and was always performing, learning and improving, right to the end. I marvel at having the good fortune to be there, then.
Is Peter Albin nailing down the bass lines here????? One of my favorite bassists ---who gets little credit IMHO
Great tune thanks for posting
One of my favorites. I've been listening to Janis a lot lately.
Bidden I just know there was a time back there
back then that we walked right by each other.
