    First time posting on here.

    This guitar was given to me on my 16th birthday and has been in my family for over 40 years, but I've never known exactly what model it is and would love to know. I've been told it's from 63 or 67, but I can't find one that looks like it. The pick guard and humbuckers look different from most.

    Thanks for any help in advance Screenshot_20210712-225304_Image Compressor and Resizer~2.jpg

    Does it have a readable serial number on the back of the headstock? That would seem like a good first step. What appears to be a set of mini-humbuckers and a harmonica style bridge yet not an ABR...trippy.

    1973-77 SG Special.

    Pickups are Mini Humbuckers.

    If pots are original, pot codes will indicate earliest year the guitar was built.

    Pot Code Format
    137YYWW
    137 = CTS
    YY = Year
    WW = Week

    Thank you so much. Looks exactly like the others, so that seems to solve that mystery.

    The serial number is 105604

    CONGRATULATIONS, and WOW, someone in your Family thinks enough of you to give you that Guitar....COOLIO.

    I would be guessin, so I won't...Harmonica Bridge, 1st fret In-Lay, Mini Hummers w/Pole pieces, Knob Pointers..a moment.....

    I have to say IDK........but that serial# suggests, nope, not gonna start guessing....BUT I might rule out '67, no Bat-Wing....but...
    1-800-GIBSON might not even know...SG .FANDOM. might...might not.....
    POT CODES ?

    It looks as if it's from the same period as my 76 standard - small pick guard, smaller inlays including first fret and 'harmonica' bridge from that period sg small.jpg

    Definitely a 73-77 SG Special.. no doubts.. past the ugly (for most) deluxe era of the early 70's.. does look like my 76 standard with satin walnut refinish.. (was a disco era guitar in past life with sparkle silver paint).. ughh..

    Pot codes? If solder obscures any part of the numbers, get as much as possible from each pot.

    Over the years, the SG Special had P-90's, Mini Humbuckers, Humbuckers.
